It’s been some time since I have posted but the pictures are taken and stored and ready. Faulty connections, bad cables, hailstorms and knocked out WiFi have all conspired to make this last month not happen….bare with me as I attempt to post and complete the year.
Last night’s dinner was Southern style prepared by the man who taught me how to fall back and let the universe catch me because it did indeed have my back. Thank you, Joe.
Doris Lessing was an Iranian-born British writer back when Iran was still Persia and we didn’t hate the country. I read all of her books when I was younger and stopped to take this picture when I saw it through my Jeep windshield because it reminded me of the Rhodesia of which she wrote.
I thought of her writing, I thought of Africa, where she placed her writing. I looked her up on Wikipedia and found this quote: “For a long time I felt I had done a very brave thing.(leaving her young children with her father when she fled Africa) There is nothing more boring for an intelligent woman than to spend endless amounts of time with small children. I felt I wasn’t the best person to bring them up. I would have ended up an alcoholic or a frustrated intellectual like my mother.”…….Hmmmmm! I have learned my best lessons from my children.
